Thank You (My Love Letter to #WDS)

When asked about the common thread binding all of us involved in the World Domination Summit, Chris had an elegant, simple response.

Pro-change.

I went in pro-change, riding the high of leaving behind my career for self-employment. Excited to leave the city I loved for the adventure of discovering a new one.

I came out changed.

Fittingly, given Chris’s background, I’m writing this on my flight home. After free-form journaling for over an hour, it became clear that there is one thing of paramount importance to share about the World Domination Summit.

Deep, unfiltered gratitude for a collection of moments that cracked me wide open.

A kindness from Karol Gajda.

A shared train ride with Julie Daley.

Mutual respect, admiration and spilled words with Tara Gentile. She is everything I expected – and so much more.

An unexpected, deep friendship with Monica McCarthy.

A place to come to organized by Bridget Pilloud.

A promise of skype dates with Alison Gresik.

Probing questions and the simplest of compliments from Danielle LaPorte.

Deep conversation and belly laughs shared with Leo Babauta.

Thank you.

Thank you for these moments – and so many others. Moments with people I’d met before. People I’d followed for ages. People I never knew I needed to know. All their names will be making their way into these pages soon enough.

And, of course – Chris Guillebeau. He spent the weekend giving credit to the people attending the event, the team of volunteers who labored to pull it off. The speakers who shared their deep wisdom.

Chris, thank you for radiating so brightly that you attract change-makers. And for sharing that energy by bringing us together for one world dominating weekend.

And for helping me learn my most important lesson through a series of shared moments.

To have a breakthrough is to be shattered but not broken.

I feel radiant.

Thank you for that.

Oh Brigitte, it was such a joy meeting you in person this weekend. Thank you so much for taking me in when I found myself hotel-less and for being so open and present.

The door is always open for you in NYC!

Hi Lori! I know they’re upping the reg cap for 2012. I will be posting some other lessons learned, and it would be impossible not to have the energy of the Summit infuse my writing, but I’m not going to do a recap.

A good place to see content is by looking at the #wds hashtag on Twitter.
