How to pitch your story idea

If there’s one question I get asked consistently it’s this:

How do I pitch the media? Do I send a press kit, make a phone call, write an e-mail?

I decided to put this issue to rest in today’s PR Primer. In this video, I not only tell you what format your pitch should take, but I also break down the specific components.

    Hi Brigitte,

Thank you for breaking down all the steps, you make it sound very easy and I feel encouraged to proceed with my own pitch.

    Thank you for sharing!

Great info – thanks! Also great lighting on this video (isn’t it weird with visual media that the medium is as much the focus as the message).

Haha – it’s true! I only film the videos when my office is brightest. I find poor quality videos to be distracting. I don’t always achieve the best lighting, but I make the effort.

  3. Hi Brigitte,
My event is this friday and I want to have a strong, usable press release.
If you had to send out something same day, (no time to do a lot of calling) what is the best tip you could give someone for maximizing the return?
I have used resources on the internet to write my release, but is a letter better?
    Thank you !
