How to prep your story for a conference

Exactly seven days after my last workin’ for the woman, I jetted to Portland for the World Domination Summit. Whenever someone asked me, “What do you do?” I exclaimed, “I embarked on self employment just last week. WOOHOO!” It was a big hit. :-)

This year, I’m going to have to come up with a new answer.  I’m not gonna lie; I’m anxious about how I should tell my story this year. How will I answer the questions I know are coming?

What do you do?
What have you accomplished since we met last year?
What are you trying to change in the world?

It’s a highly motivated, slightly intense group. I need to get my story down cold, so I can focus less on how to answer these questions and more on the person in front of me.

So I turned to my friend Monica, who I happened to meet at least year’s World Domination Summit. Who better than a storytelling addict like Monica to hit up for some advice and encouragement.

And I recorded our conversation, because I know I’m not alone with these fears.

  • Her top recommendation in prepping for a conference.
  • How to walk the laser-thin line between sharing your story and being a hustler.
  • How to get past your self-consciousness in uncomfortable situations.
